Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic and public speaking. She created Feminist Frequency which is a website with videos and guest posts discussing the depictions of females in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has won prizes for her work, is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency is a non-profit educational website which investigates representations of women in popular culture narratives. Committed to deconstructing the stereotypes that are associated with females in pop culture, she seeks to bring attention to targeted exploitation of women and other marginalized classes of people in the online environment. Sarkeesian, who has a Master's in the field of Social and Political Thought from York University, is a sought after public speakers. She has given speeches at the TEDxWomen festival as well as United Nations Broadband Working Group to Gender. Feminist Frequency was created on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, an undergraduate student at York University who had been involved in topics concerning gender and feminism since a considerable period of period of. She had a plan to create an online program that would examine the role of gender in games and was then the victim of an online campaign to harass her. The attack did have been a hindrance, rather it made her more determined as a feminist media critic. Many awards have been presented to her as a way of acknowledging all of the contribution she has have made. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winner for her work as a media journalist. She was also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organisation that studies pop culture depictions of women.
